I have a new pair of glasses ordered. I'm happy with my old computer glasses as my baseline - they're +1/2 diopter off of my prescription. As prescribed, I absolutely can not work at a computer. With 1/2 stop less correction it's still pretty comfortable (not quite as comfortable as the pair I have that's a full diopter less correction, but perfectly adequate. I have gotten used to this strength as my everyday glasses and can see perfectly at a distance at this correction and still work at a computer.
I've gotten back into taking my glasses off to read, so today I went to the drug store with my phone set to small font and determined that +1.25 is a perfect add for comfortable reading distance with sharp, comfortable vision. So that's what I've got coming.
I also went with a slightly taller lens (and a little wider as well), because otherwise the reading height is so small I have to scan the glasses constantly around the page to read. The new ones are 36mm high instead of 30. They have up to about 44mm high but those look like the big aviator "bug" glasses I had when I was in high school. All I'd have to do would be to get a 40% amber tint and they'd be complete Dr Johnny Fever glasses.
I really need to dig through the glasses for the last 5 years and dump a bunch of them into the recycle bin at work. I have at least 2 or 3 pair that I don't wear anymore.
