I figured that $130 prices on the K550 headphones was too good to be true. The seller just said they could not fulfill the order. I was kind of expecting that though I thought they would drag me on for a week or two first.

Now I'm back to headphone decisions again. It's down to between the Sennheiser 598s or the Momentums.

EDIT: found a pair of Momentums on open box at Amazon for $160, went with those. They're closed and I live in a cubicle farm.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to like Windows 10 - when it releases. Right now it's too unstable for me. Unfortunately the PC I've been using on 7 is not getting along with 8.1, so I brought up the old family PC from the lab, moved the SSD to that and installed 8.1. Windows 8.1 plus classic shell is totally fine (I never have to see the start screen, so that = fine).

The machine is more than acceptable for what I do. It's a Core2 quad with 4GB RAM. The other machine had 8GB but the RAM isn't compatible. It's kind of irritating that RAM changes so fast - I have probably 5 mainboards in this house, and NONE of them have RAM compatible with the other, since they were all purchased at least 6 months apart.

I need to decide what to do about a working-from-home PC. In the past I've used XP running in a VM, but that's not stable, the connection drops fairly often. More recently I used a laptop, but that's only really good for occasional use. I don't want to set up the VPN directly on my home OS because I simply do not want to put my personal stuff onto the work network. So I may take the just-sidelined PC and reinstall 7 on it just to use as a VPN+RDP box (probably eventually to have 2 to 3 monitors on it). I have only 3 days to install the cert from work (they just switched systems) before the invite runs out and I have to do it again.
