Blinkies, soldering, etc
Nov. 18th, 2014 08:40 pmThe cheap Radio Shack soldering stations that the convention owns die a little every year, and they're not great anyway.
I've been thinking about getting a bunch of them myself because I occasionally get a chance to do soldering/blinkie classes for makerspaces or FIRST groups, and the other irons belong to the con and are in a Pod in Chicago so I can't get to them. You can pick up really cheap knockoffs of Hakko 937s for $30 or so on eBay. Dave Jones reviewed an even cheaper one a few months ago and while it's certainly cheap, it really wasn't that bad.
So I ordered a couple to take a look. If they're good I'll try to have half a dozen of them and build a travel wheelie box for them.
