We had an ice storm come through Wednesday. Thursday morning we woke up to one of the four trunks of our river birch broken about halfway up. I've removed some of it, enough to make the area passable and remove the load. The remainder of the cleanup will have to happen on a ladder with a chainsaw and I'm just going to let that go for a while.
There's another major branch down in a mid sized tree out in the easement, I'll have to deal with that too. Maybe Sunday.
The power failed on Thursday around 1PM IIRC. As of Saturday at 8:12 it's still out, but the solar and batteries have not failed in that time. We have plenty of battery. Friday at 7:20 AM and today around 6:59 AM the first battery hit 15% which is as low as it's allowed to go, there was a 2 second outage while the system switched to the 2nd battery. But shortly after that the sun comes up enough to cover demand, then start charging the batteries back up again. Thursday was overcast, we were making about 1200 watts, which was enough to top the batteries off by an hour before sunset. Yesterday was quite sunny, the batteries were topped off by about noon, and since there's nowhere to pump the power with the grid down, I plugged in a 1500 watt space heater to make use of the excess sun.
Today is looking a bit more overcast but I expect we'll be charging back up again by 10AM or so.
Today's our anniversary. 34 years wow. I thought you had to be old to be married that long :)
What's amazing is that someone has been putting up with me nonstop for 34 years.
