Random

Not a lot going on so I haven't updated lately.

I got the brush pile chipped about as far as I could, the remainder was all corkscrew willow that won't go into the chipper, or huge masses of dead leaves and acorns, tangled sticks and branches. So I just burned the remainder. Hopefully in the future I can take the pile down with the chipper before it becomes unmanageable. I still need to do final cleanup in that area of all the random sticks and stuff, and mow it, it hasn't been mowed in over a month.

All the random yard stuff (picnic table etc) has mostly been Tetris-d into the little plastic shed. One or two small things yet to go. I managed to get the wood chipper in there as well.

It took a few weeks but I finally got my COVID booster on Wednesday the 18th. By evening I was feeling a bit of a fever so I cancelled my Thursday morning platelet donation. I have that rescheduled for this morning at 11. It was a good move because Thursday and Friday I had some muscle ache. Not terrible but more than normal. I'm always achy to some extent unless I have done absolutely nothing and haven't been to the gym for a week.

Yesterday I spent several hours out in the garage, partially to organize things but largely to just put things away. A LOT of organizing yet to do. I need to find or make some bins that will fit in the shelves there. Must remember that when I build shelves in the future, plan them around a readily available bin size. A whole lot of the things on the shelves really don't stack (funnels, battery powered tools) so having some way to keep them all from spilling out is needed.

I need to start actual planning for the 3rd garage bay. 2 post car lifts have gotten ridiculously cheap, I think I definitely want one. Also room for storage of the stuff that's currently in the little shed. I need actual workbenches, and I need to decide whether it makes more sense to put them in the new bay, or build a lot of storage there, transfer stuff from the 2nd bay and build benches there instead. The latter sounds more feasible.

I really should sell my little bike. I really don't need two. I like them both but the use case for the little one is very nearly entirely overlapped by the Yamaha. Mainly two bikes just takes up a lot more room than one, together they kind of block the entire bay up. I'll put it up in the spring and see if I get any bites. Now is a bad time to sell motorcycles.

I also need to take this opportunity with the temp exactly right to take all the scrap plywood I have lying around the place and use it to seal the 2nd floor crawlspaces to whatever extent I can. I think it will help the insulation if it's not open to the wind blowing through, and it'll make getting around in those spaces a lot more reasonable. Also get rid of all this damned plywood.
