The little $2 plastic flash diffuser from DX works well. The full hood would have been too much. I still think I can do better, but I was just relying on catching him when he was in front of a decent backdrop. I probably should use aperture priority and force a little more depth of field, when I've got a featureless background like that. OTOH, having just his face in focus isn't bad, either.

Every time I see that userpic (OK, twice so far) I'm tickled by the thought of a dancing Dalek. It looks to me like it's dancing.
