Lovely Spam

Apparently Facebook has some kind of popularity contest going on among charities. So now world+dog who have my email are sending me tons of spam asking me to visit their Facebook page and vote for them.

Some of them I'd support, but I really don't want to have anything to do with Facebook. Time to go modify my "when it's OK to contact me" settings in a few places.

Huh. I'm on fb & way too many folk have my addr, but I've not gotten a one of those.

It doesn't appear to be related to having a facebook account; anyone associated with a charity that has your email address is spamming to get you to go to their facebook page and vote. I would except I have no interest in creating a facebook page. I suppose I could create a fake one with a disposable email address and use that to vote for the duration of the contest, but that's a lot of screwing around.

Actually so far it's just Red Cross and Virgin Mobile for their homeless charity. But Red Cross has sent me 5 emails so far.

Oy. Well, I have I don't know how many charities and causes (political, environmental, public radio...) that have my e-mail -- but those two are not on the list. Just as well. When I start getting hammered, I start getting annoyed. And then I go all Lou F, and it's just not pretty.
