johnridleyWe had a mild lightning storm yesterday evening that went slightly north of us. This happens pretty often here and it's nice because it gives me the chance to go outside and do some photography. Mainly I was retuning because I hadn't done lightning photography since I think the fall of 2004 and didn't remember the proper lens opening. Answer: f/8 to f/16 depending on how close the lightning is hitting. Shutter on "bulb" of course, ISO run all the way down.
It wasn't a spectacular show, but I got a couple of ooh's and aah's out of it. Beats going to bed early. Besides, there's little as pleasant as sitting on the grass in your bathrobe at night with cool storm winds blowing but no rain (and no bugs). Throw in a free show and what is there to complain about?
