That bothered me, too, but there are a couple of outs:

1) Maybe Mama Bear actually eats less than Baby Bear. This would not be unusual, I've seen a lot of kids who eat more at a sitting than their mothers.

2) Mama Bear may use a low, shallow porridge bowl while Baby Bear's bowl is smaller in diameter, but deeper, so there is less surface area.
