DealExtreme is selling a 3500 lumen LED emitter. Yowza. 60 bucks. 3.5 amps at 33 volts nominal. Bring a car battery. Actually this might be competitive with a good car headlight with the right optics.

I've been wanting to get something like this to play with, but they are terribly expensive and hard to heatsink.

Personally, I can't wait for high CRI LEDs (or arrays?) to come out so I can finally replace CF and tungsten.
