So what sort of fun this weekend?
Jan. 1st, 2007 08:39 pmLots of it.
Made lots of progress on the basement room. This is it as of tonight:

Drywall is up (the two rough openings in the front will have equipment and media shelves, as soon as I build them), need to buy a door, mudding starts next. Then finish work (paint, rug, trim, etc).
J and I went to Lowes yesterday and spent her Christmas money, and I got a couple of days worth of good fun installing things. She got this cool new deep/large sink and really nice brushed stainless Moen faucet:

which replaces this old thing:

And also this nifty new storm door. It's got a rolldown screen that comes out of a hidden pocket in the top when you pull down the top glass, so when the glass is up there's no visible screen. Very cool:

The inside door will probably get replaced this summer. That will involve a lot more tearout.
We've also been on a month-long tear of replacing the cheap stuff the house came with, mainly lighting fixtures that were pretty bad. We both just got to the point where we'd had enough of them. The chandelier and all the hall/entryway ceiling lights have been replaced. We did some halogen task lighting in the kitchen last winter, and the main kitchen light is doomed, as soon as we find a replacement we like.
I've been getting to bed at about 1:30AM the last few nights. I need to get up at 5:30 to ride to work, so I think I'd better get to bed soon. Luckily I'm tired enough that I don't think that will be a problem.
