Looks like I got new pedals for my bike just in time! The new ones allow me to ride in my heavy winter boots. The forecast for tomorrow morning is -4*F. Usually the actual temp when I get out into the barren stretches in the farm fields is about 10*F below the forecast. Wind chill is forecast at -25*F. The ride back home is supposed to be at a balmy 7*F, but it'll be directly into a 20 MPH headwind. This promises to be interesting. At least I did also locate my full wrap prescription goggles this afternoon.

We just watched a PBS show called Christmas in Yellowstone. There was a photographer in it that spends some time each winter skiing around Yellowstone taking photos; the temps when they shot this segment were running -20 to -40*F. Actually it looked wonderful. I have never been to Yellowstone, but from what I've read, it's essentially an RV parking lot most of the summer.

It's a bit of a parking lot, but you should go anyway. The sights are amazing, and you can always park and hike. It's 3,468 square miles, you can get away from the cars and people. I'd love to go back without the family. There were all sorts of places we drove by where I wanted to stop and explore for a couple hours, but couldn't.
