How did you like it? I think it's quite good-- and way above the intelligence and literacy levels of most subsequent 1950s SF films. It certainly has flaws but there are some fine thrilling moments in it. (Plus, on Prof. Barnhardt's blackboard, real math.)
Yes, I was quite impressed, really, for the reasons you state. I'm not capable of telling that that was real math, but I'll take your word for it. All the characters were pretty believable, which is a rarity for 50s SF.
