Still some stupidity in ebook pricing
Jun. 14th, 2011 07:57 amNPR was talking about the book "Railroaded: The Transcontinentals and the Making of Modern America" and I thought "that sounds interesting."
$21 hardcover everywhere. At Amazon, the Kindle edition is $18. At B&N, the Nook edition is $28.
What the hell? I guess I'd better try a little harder to get that Kindle DRM breaking software working.

Date: 2011-06-14 01:51 pm (UTC)Honestly, there's just no way. I either won't read it at all, I'll get it from the library, or I'll pirate it. If I could buy it for $6 or $8 I'd buy it, but I'm not paying $18 or more for it.
"Let's see, the ebook edition is cheaper to produce, cheaper to distribute, cheaper to warehouse, I can't loan it out and I'm not allowed to sell it or even give it away when I'm done with it. Sure, I think it TOTALLY makes sense that I should pay MORE for that."
