Stone of Tears by Terry Goodkind

I'm starting to warm to the series a bit. A while back I saw someone list the series as the best thing they'd ever read. This definitely isn't that for me, I think it might be in the top 100 but only barely if so. Still, 2nd book was at least as good as the 1st book which is always a good sign; too many series die after the first book or never seem to get anywhere.

I thought the first two books were pretty good. However, the second book presaged the downturn of the series for me. While he continues to write well in the third book, the excessive focus on the BDSM aspects of his series was finally enough of a turn off that I just stopped reading them.

Yeah, I'm about 1/4 of the way through book three and I can see that coming. I can ignore a certain amount of it, we'll see if it just gets to be not worth it.
