When we get unexpected plants growing in our garden, we generally let them grow for a while to see what they are. A few weeks ago one such plant bloomed with really pretty purple-and-yellow flowers. J looked it up, and it turns out that we have Deadly Nightshade in our garden. Cool!

Does it have a strong scent? I've never noticed one, but then with my allergies, it's rare for me to be able to smell anything no matter how strong the odor.

I do know that my heart rate gets funky if I handle deadly nightshade with my bare hands. I know better than to garden without putting on gardening gloves, but sometimes the urge to pull weeds outweighs my common sense.
