Well, the pond itself. Basically needs a few hundred more pounds of rock which I'll have to pick up some time soon. Today I got the underground electrical service mostly installed; all the exterior work is done. Inside I just left the remainder of the wire hanging and put a plug on it. Once I pick up some parts I'm going to install a dedicated socket and a pigtail inside so we can have a timer on it more easily. Also I'm going to buy a fake rock to put over the outlet, and once the weeds are cleared and plants re-planted I'll put down weed block and wood chips.

Boy, that's *way* more sophisticated than what we have - a plastic wading pool filled with water, algae, half-a-dozen big tadpoles, a couple of goldfish, two very small bluegills, and all sorts of aquatic insects.

Although, Sam has already said that she wants to make a proper little fishpond now, so something along these lines may be in our future.

Our first was a preformed little thing that was buried but was probably only about 15 gallons or so. Then one spring day I got a wild hare and started digging.

This project was forced by the cheap plastic liner that had been down for years finally giving up and leaking a hundred gallons a day this spring. Damage was from a combination of dogs jumping in and UV. The new liner is a Goodyear rubber one, supposedly good for 50 years. The waterfall liner is plastic but it's a newer design with fabric bonded into it.
