Amazon and DRM

Interesting, I just bought the last book in Bear's Eternal Sky, and this is in the description:

• At the publisher's request, this title is being sold without Digital Rights Management software (DRM) applied.

It's from Macmillan FWIW. Bear's titles through Penguin and Random House do not say that.

McMillan, including Tor, said a year or two back that all of its ebooks would be DRM free.

That's cool. What I find interesting is that Amazon is actually saying so. One of the complaints I hear often is that you usually can't tell. I suppose the publisher may make it a point that their titles are to carry that text in the description.
