Just for the record....
Feb. 11th, 2008 04:36 pmI tested up to green belt + blue stripe in tae kwon do on Friday.
I was pretty pathetic on memorizing my testing form the week before, but lucky for me they pushed it off due to weather, and I was able to cram some forms practice in at lunch time at work a few days last week.
I really, really need to practice a few things; I've totally forgotten knife defense (the instructor I generally have doesn't emphasize that). I'm not very creative with my one-steps, and I only have 2 or 3 mediocre attacks when sparring. I love to spar but we don't often get to it since I'm usually at the late class and it's usually just me and Tom and perhaps a couple other small kids.
There's a guy there now, named James, who is quite good. He dropped out of the studio for a couple of years but is back, and he's a WHOLE lot of fun to work with. He has a much different style, and he's done a lot of competition so he knows a lot of different attacks, etc.
They used to have a separate sparring class for 90 minutes on Saturday, but A) the instructor that ran those has been out for a few months, and B) I have no Saturday time free to speak of.
