The Tragedy of Puddinhead Wilson by Mark Twain

Nothing to be said, it's Twain, and it's very good. I'm recapping the lecture on it right now, though the lecture doesn't bring anything forward that isn't clear in the novel itself.

I wish Piers Anthony could write author's notes 1/10th as good as Twain. Twain's author's notes are not to be skipped.

Moby Dick by Herman Melville

Acquired from Librivox (free recording), narration by Stewart Wills. This is an EXCELLENT recording, the narrator is quite good. I couldn't hope for a better recording from any of the commercial recording houses I've listened to audiobooks from.

Anyway, this is an amazing book, certainly the richest I've read. I'm a bit sorry I didn't get to it years before; it has certainly expanded my expectations for novels.

I went out and read the Wikipedia article on the book after finishing it. It's a good wrap-up, and hints at the allegory and symbolism of the book without bashing you over the head with it.
