Hummingbirds
Jul. 8th, 2007 02:47 pmJust can't get tired of them. After filling the feeder this afternoon, I decided to get the camera and stand there until one came by to take a picture of. I was about 3 feet away when I took this. In about 10 minutes, three came by. They're very bold; when I was trying to put the feeder out a few days ago they were buzzing my head as I was hanging it.

I surprised something...
Jan. 3rd, 2006 08:53 amon the way in to work, and it surprised me back.
Along a lonely back gravel road, something that sounded like a hawk or screech owl made a pretty loud, surprised sounding "Ska-reeek!" in a tree over my head. I think I woke it up. Well, it certainly woke me up too.
I'd just cleaned and lubed my drivetrain yesterday, and the studded tires don't make much noise on the gravel, so it was nice and quiet, so the bird got maximum scare out of its noise.
