Yesterday I went out with a shovel for the third time that day,and got the driveway cleared right down to the pavement.

Coming home from church today, I high centered the Fusion in that same driveway. So out with the shovel again.

Yeah, it's a little windy here right now, and the snow is perfect for drifting.

In other weekend news, I spent most of Friday and Saturday trying to get relatively brutal with throwing stuff out. I got a stack of four astronomy books, put them up on Astromart at 1/2 price, and they went by the end of the day. My PC brad nailer, however, didn't go on eBay.

But I did throw out a lot of stuff, including things I've had since I was a teenager.

I also took quite a lot of stuff to the dump and recycling, and got some stuff ready to go to charity and over to my relatives - the toys and kids books that were new or newish already went to a nearby outreach shelter a couple of weeks ago.

We still have quite a way to go, but the end result is that it's almost getting to where we can walk across the basement, and in another month or so, it may even be possible to clean the place.

Of course, I've tossed a fair bit of stuff out in the garage, and I'm currently ignoring a lot of that. Someone is supposed to be coming to get the table saw soon, that will clear up a big unmoveable object out there that I'm currently always tripping over, and make it a little easier to move stuff around out there.

Yesterday I decided the carpets need cleaning. It's been about a year, I should have done them at least once already, but I've been letting them slip.

I spent a half an hour looking for the machine yesterday, and we finally determined that I never brought it back from the church where we used it to clean up basement flooding this summer. So I delayed the cleanup.

Got it this morning from church, loaded it up, and... no output. Wait, there is output - the water is flowing out of the bottom of the handle. Turn off, unplug, take apart - there's a cheap plastic hose barb broken off that threads into the heater block. The other one broke off as I was removing the block.

Spent an hour drilling it out, cleaning up the threads (thankfully I have a metric tap set now). Tomorrow I get to go to the hardware store and no doubt discover that I can't buy a metric hose barb. So I'll probably wind up drilling it out and tapping it again anyway.

Maybe tomorrow I can start cleaning the carpet.
