On Monday we drove from home in Bill's motorhome, it being the only vehicle we had that could carry 3 bikes 3 people and our stuff. In Cassopolis we met up with Fritz, switched to his Expedition and started the drive to St Charles.
Along the way Dave's bike came off the roof rack twice, bending the front dropouts. We gave up and put it inside. We think the rack didn't have a good grip because it doesn't have lawyer lips on those dropouts.
Lunch was at Culvers.
We drove straight to the Arch and 3 of us did the trip to the top while Bill parked and stayed with the car.
The arch was very cool, the work they have done on the reception area was praised by the folks who had seen it earlier.
After, we went to the Comfort Inn in St Charles, walked to Napoli for dinner where I had a chicken parmesan that I had to share to finish, went back to the hotel.

We had breakfast at the hotel then drove to the Bike Shop Cafe where we moved our stuff into their van and shuttled to the Bothwell hotel in Sedalia at about 11. They didn't have rooms for us yet but they let us stuff our bags in the lobby.
We then rode the Katy trail west about 15 miles to the high point of the trail at 955 feet elevation. Fritz had a flat about 3 miles in, which we repaired. Fritz realized one of his tubes was for the other bike so on the way back we stopped at a bike shop and bought some more tubes.
After returning to the hotel we got our rooms, moved up there.
We went to Fitters 5th Street pub for dinner. Acceptable but not memorable.

We had equipment trouble requiring a trip to the hardware store, so we didn't roll until about 11 am.
Lunch was at Deon's bar and grill in Pilot Grove, where I had a very good western burger and an experimental dessert of funnel cake sticks and fresh strawberries with a chocolate drizzle.
Others had their Danger Dog, a hot dog wrapped in bacon and deep fried in a bun with BBQ sauce.
We only made about 35 miles, then camped at the Katy Roundhouse campground.
Dinner was ordered pizza.
I slept amazingly well.

We got a good start from camping at the Katy Roundhouse campground.
We found the Miracle Coffee Cup and had a very good breakfast.
We covered 50 miles today but it is a food and services wasteland. We finished on nothing but trail mix and Clif bars after breakfast, rolling in to Jefferson City around 430.
We checked in to the Courtyard hotel and walked about 12 minutes to Cinco de Mayo restaurant, which served us wonderful Mexican food.
We waddled back to the hotel to relax and turn in, though I'm having a hell of a cramp in my left thigh, unrelated to cycling, I've been having it for weeks.
